5 Secrets to Packing Smart for a Beach Holiday (with Tshirts)

Updated: Feb 1, 2022

I have travelled to 16 different countries, some for holiday, and some for staying longer periods. During that time, I have learnt to pack lightly by repurposing clothes for smart use in the evenings.

In this article, you will find out how to smarten up any t-shirt for evening wear, how to reuse shoes for different purposes, and how to keep towels and toiletries to a minimum.

Tip #1 - Pack a lacy overshirt

This is perhaps my best tip for you. Pack a light lacy shirt with long sleeves into your bag. It is not only so weightless as to be negligible, it also takes up next-to no space, and it'll transform even the drabbest t-shirt into a glamorous outfit. Think of a dark pink, or even a white shirt over the t-shirt displayed above. It creates elegance.

Actually, I choose black, because it tends to match with everything.

Tip #2 Pack smart accessories

Decide which items will smarten your beach wardrobe. They should be small, and match with everu outfit, such as neutrals.

You can pack flip-flops, and wear sandals on the way to your holiday destination. If you're going to hike, wear your hiking boots. Don't lug them around.

Tip #3 - Take two towels

I am a firm believer in separating the beach and the bathrooms towels, because beach towels get a lot of sand in them, and make drying after a shower rather uncomfortable and sticky. I never ever use the towels that the accommodation provides, unless I personally know the owner. Someone in my family who got a nasty fungal disease from a hotel-towel. They had obviously not cleaned the towels at high temperatures after the last user.

It may take up a little space, but at least disease and sticky granules of sand won't plague you all holiday.

Tip #4 - Use a hard-shelled suitcase with wheels

A suitcase with a hard outer shell and wheels will enable you to keep those smart clothes neat and well-ironed. You want to relax without stressing over ironing, so invest in a solid case.

Suitable Products

The tricky challenge about a beach holiday is that you want to pack both casual and smart clothes. Use the above tips to help you smarten up beachwear for the evenings and transform your wardrobe into something glamorous.
